Meet the Principal - Brian Vallely Dip PFS Cert CII (MP)
 

Brian has worked in financial services for over 30 years, with a number of building societies before becoming a branch manager with Nationwide.  When he qualified in 1992 as an Independent Financial Advisor,  Brian left to run his own business now known today as  Brian Vallely Kellands Independent Financial Services.

Areas of advice he can give are as follows:

Incremental or equivalent qualifications/designations held by MR BRIAN VALLELY:

    Level A  Level A is the minimum level of qualification required to become a Financial Adviser, such as the CII's FPC and CFP, the IFS CeFA or the CIOBS CIP qualification.  Financial advisers with Level A qualifidations have a broad-based understanding of the financial services industry. Advisers qualified at this level are able to use their knowledge and skills to advise consumers on a range of financial products, including pensions, investments and protection (life and health).
    CF6 - Certificate in Mortgage Advice (CII) CF6 qualification - This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the UK regulation environment in the financial services industry, mortgage products, repayment options and the giving of mortgage advice.
    CF7 - Certificate in Financial Planning & Lifetime Mortgages Activities (CII) CF7 qualification - This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the UK regulation environment in the financial services industry, lifetime mortgage products, repayment options and the giving of mortgage advice.
    CF8 - Certificate in Financial Planning and Long-Term Care Insurance (CII) CF8 qualification - This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the UK regulation environment in the financial services industry, long term care insurance products and the giving of long term care insurance advice.
    SV1 - Saving & Investment (CII) SV1 qualification - This examination assessed the knowledge and understanding of economic factors that affect risk from different investments, product features and regulatory framework of retail investments, taxation liabilities and portfolio planning.

    Level B  Financial Advisers with Level B qualifications demonstrate a high level of expertise and have a more specialised knowledge of financial products. They are able to provide detailed analysis of financial information and can devise solutions to complex financial problems. Advisers with a Level B qualification may be eligible for a higher level of membership of a professional body. Professional bodies require all members to sign up to a code of conduct.
    AFPC - Advanced Financial Planning Certificate (CII) AFPC qualification - In order to have completed this qualification, individuals were required to obtain three units.  These could have been selected from any combination of the available units at that time but must have included the compulsory G10 unit - Taxation and Trusts.
    Dip PFS - Personal Finance Society Diploma (PFS) Dip PFS designator - To achieve the DipPFS grade, individuals would be required to have 3 AFPC (Diploma) units or equivalent. This shows a commitment to continuous professional development.
    G10 - Taxation and Trusts (CII) G10 qualification - This examination assessed a knowledge and understanding of the UK tax system, the law and practice of trusts, but also an ability to advise individual clients on the tax treatment of their investments and the use of trusts to meet their current and foreseeable future needs.
